Hi Class of 1977,

Of course I can provide an update on what’s been going on in my life.  It’s only been 40 years so it couldn’t take long, right?  My story won’t be about grand adventures or anything too exciting, but there is one sort of interesting tidbit to share:  I have the pleasure of personally knowing the bass player of a world renowned rock band from Liverpool, England and still see him every few years. I’ll let you guess who it is.  I know it’s not much but it’s all I got.  Though the adventures are few, I’ve had a blessed life which has given me much pleasure.

After high school I graduated from UWEC with a business degree.  My first job brought me to Sheboygan WI.   Then in 1985, due to a job change, I moved further south to a little town called Fredonia (near Port Washington, WI) which turned out to be a nice place to raise a family.  We moved there thinking we would stay about 3-4 years but grew to like it and have been there ever since.

I met my future wife, Mary Gannon, my senior year of college and we were married September 11, 1982.  Who knew 9-11 would become infamous 19 years later?  We’re excited to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary later this year.   We have 3 children, two daughters; Michela age 33 and Katie age 31, and a son, Collin age 27.  All three children are married and we are also blessed with two grandchildren, Josie age 9 and Vincent age 5.  They are of course the apples of our eyes.  Both daughters ended up moving to Ft. Lauderdale, FL so we spend most of our vacation time down there (cold weather months!) to visit them and our grandchildren.  My son lives and works in Milwaukee so at least one of our kids is nearby.

I’ve worked in the financial services industry since 1985 and have been a loan officer in southeastern Wisconsin for the past 21 years.  My wife Mary is a registered nurse and is currently a nursing instructor at a local school.  We have a vacation property in Door County, WI where we spend as much time as possible-we just love it there.  I enjoy golfing, fishing, and reading and try to spend time at one of those three as often as possible.  Like most of our classmates we are thinking more and more about our impeding retirement as the years roll by and looking forward to that day.  I miss Eau Claire and I still have a hard time believing it’s been 40 years.  Sure doesn’t seem like it.

I wish all of you the very best and am sorry I’ll miss the reunion.  Take care.

Class of 77 Fashions

Crimes of fashion.  We've all been guilty at one time or another.  What fashion felonies and misdemeanors did you commit as a student of the 70's at MHS?  What trends do you recall that should have been sentenced to solitary confinment?

Class of 77 Slang

Image

According to the "Coolest Words" website, these are the top 10 slang words of the 70's.  What were your go-to slang terms during that era?  Do you recall any slang that was unique to our class?  Are there any slang terms of that time that you still use?  Do your kids call you "lame" when you do?

1. Psyche! – This 70’s slang word was used when tricking someone. I.e. “I told the joke and she thought it was real, it really psyched her out.”

2. Far Out! – Used when the person wanted to show that...
